voluntary celibacy: voluntarily choosing to abstain from sexual activity. This can range from abstaining from penetrative sexual intercourse (including oral sex) to choosing not to have any physical contact with those to whom you are sexually attracted. It can also include abstaining from masturbation.
involuntary celibacy: abstaining from sexual activity due to the inability to initiate and/or sustain a sexual or romantic relationship.
asexuality: "An asexual is someone who does not experience sexual attraction. Unlike celibacy, which people choose, asexuality is an intrinsic part of who we are." Visit www.asexuality.org for more information.
