our first question!

Why hello fair readers,

We've got our first question! A William and Mary student sent the following:

"As far as outdoor sex, what kind of dangers does one face in terms of grass, dirt, sand on/in the genitals? How can you prevent infections or general discomfort?"

- A good question. I will try and answer based on personal experience, then leave the rest to our resident "Location" expert and some helpful links I found regarding sex in the outdoors.
As far as sex in any outdoor location goes, one must be sure to watch for passersby who may be in the area where you choose to play around; always make sure you are in an area where unwelcome others are far enough away to leave you at peace. As for the other dangers facing those who enjoy sex outdoors, I can only really speak for beach romps--it is very important that you bring some sort of blanket and/or towel to prevent chafing from excessive sand! Be warned that while it is very sexy to fool around with the sound of the ocean all around and the sand in your toes, you WILL get sandy--in your hair, all over your body, you name it, there will be sand. Additionally, you should make sure that if you are using a condom (and I hope that you are!), you should be very careful not to get sand in and/or on the condom and the area that is being penetrated. It is strongly recommended that in between each sexual act (for example, transitioning from oral sex to anal or vaginal sex) that you clean up around your genital area in order to prevent infection. This is especially important when you are having sex outdoors. Bring along some baby wipes or at least some tissues to keep clean in between.
